Gas burners are jetted for a specific altitude band, and a range set up for sea level runs rich across the Front Range — yellow-tipping flames, soot on burner caps and pan bottoms, and a cooktop that never quite boils as fast as it should. Manufacturers supply high-altitude orifice kits for exactly this. Most units bought and installed locally are already converted, but appliances that moved with you from out of state frequently never were, and it is one of the first things we check on a cooking call.
